A Wine Born from the Heights of Lebanon
El Massaya Terrasses de Baalbeck Red is a tribute to the lofty landscapes where its grapes thrive. At over 3,000 feet above sea level, these vineyards overlook the iconic temples of Jupiter, Bacchus, and Venus in Baalbeck. It's a place where history meets winemaking, and the results are breathtaking.
This wine is a reflection of its terroir. With 19 acres of chalky clay soil, the grapevines reach deep into the earth, absorbing the essence of their surroundings. The blend is a masterpiece, with grenache noir (40%), syrah (30%), and mourvèdre (30%) grapes, averaging 20 years of age. The synergy between soil and vines creates a wine with an unparalleled sense of place.
El Massaya Terrasses de Baalbeck Red is the result of meticulous craftsmanship. The grapes are hand-picked, conveying the essence of the land to the winery. Here, they are carefully sorted on tables and fully destemmed. The journey continues with vinification in temperature-controlled oak vats for 20 to 30 days, allowing the grapes to express their full character. The wine matures gracefully for 20 to 22 months in large oak vats, unaltered by fining or filtering, preserving the authenticity of its flavors.
