Hamilton New York Blend Rum was specifically crafted with the classic daiquiri in mind. Developed at the request of a New York bar group by the blender of the esteemed Hamilton Navy Strength Rum, this blend offers a more approachable proof while maintaining exceptional character.
The foundation of this rum lies in the combination of high-proof, aged rums from Guyana and Jamaica, initially conceived as a 60/40 split, the same as its Navy Strength counterpart. However, after careful experimentation at various proofs, an optimized blend at 84 proof (42% ABV) was finalized to enhance its suitability for cocktails without compromising flavor. The process involves the meticulous blending of these aged distillates, which are slowly stirred together for 48 hours at the Five & 20 Distillery in Westfield, NY, before being gently diluted with filtered well water.
This lower proof allows the nuanced aromas of the rum to truly shine, revealing inviting notes of honeyed stone fruit followed by intriguing smoky hints of caramelized fruit.
