Foursquare Equidem, the twenty-seventh release in the highly sought-after Exceptional Cask Selection series, is a truly unique and limited-edition single blended rum from the prestigious Foursquare Rum Distillery in Barbados. Hand-selected by the renowned Master Distiller Richard Seale, Equidem marks a significant first for the distillery as its inaugural release fully finished in ex-Black Muscat wine casks.
This exceptional rum is a blend of pot and column still distillates, produced from molasses and initially aged for five years in ex-bourbon barrels. It was then transferred to ex-Black Muscat wine casks for a further nine years of maturation, all taking place on-site in Barbados. Bottled at 61% ABV and without chill filtration, Equidem presents an intriguing and complex aromatic profile, starting with notes of vanilla, bright tangerine, and warm baking spice. The palate offers a bold and savory experience, revealing layers of salted caramel, rich miso, sweet toffee, earthy enoki mushroom, and nuanced brown butter. The finish is long and satisfying, with hints of leather, cedarwood, and sweet honey lingering on the tongue.
In keeping with Foursquare's dedication to purity, this rum contains no added sugar, coloring, or other additives, allowing the distinctive influence of the Black Muscat casks to shine through.
