The 2019 vintage presented a drier growing season, yielding remarkably healthy fruit with well-ripened skins, a testament to careful vineyard management. Winemaking focused on gentle extraction during fermentation to preserve freshness and avoid over-ripeness. The aging regimen was thoughtfully adjusted, with a portion of the wine spending its first year in oak vats to enhance structure.
For this vintage, French oak, with its subtle toast, took precedence over American oak, contributing refined nuances. The subsequent year in wooden vats further developed the wine's textural elegance and complex aromas. The resulting Valbuena 5° 2019 offers a captivating interplay of power and finesse.
