Discover the vibrant, unfiltered energy of Germany's Rheinhessen region with Schlossmühlenhof's "Das Ist Keine Orange". This unique blend of Müller-Thurgau and Silvaner breaks the mold, showcasing the Michel family's dedication to pure, terroir-driven winemaking.
For generations, the Michels have nurtured their vines with a focus on healthy, balanced soils. Their "Boden Funk" philosophy celebrates the natural transmission of the earth's essence into the grapes. Extended skin contact and minimal intervention during fermentation create a textured, complex wine with vibrant fruit and a touch of earthiness. This is not your typical "orange wine" – it's a captivating, unfiltered expression of the Rheinhessen's unique character.
From 25 year old vines planted to 3ha of loess and calcareous clay soils, the grapes were hand-harvested and vineyard sorted together on October 5th. The whole clusters were allowed to macerate and spontaneously ferment in stainless steel for 12 weeks. Aged for seven months in stainless steel, the entire time on lees, and then bottled in January. Unfiltered.
