After establishing the Avignonesi estate as one of the finest producers of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano in Tuscany, proprietor Alfredo Falvo set his sights on this storied estate in the decidedly rustic region of Puglia. Bottling just three wines from their various vineyards in San Marco and Salentina, the Passamente is our favorite of the bunch. Crafted with 100% Negroamaro, this ruby-colored wine boasts Amarone-like aromas of roasted plums and sage that inspire cravings for vegetable soups, and all things pasta — especially savory Bolognese sauce. Passamente's medium- to full-bodied black fruit flavors and velvety tannins also work well with slightly-aged cheeses and simple meat roasts.
