Nestled amidst the picturesque vineyards of St. Magdalena, at the edge of the charming city of Bozen/Bolzano, the Franz Gojer Winery is a place where tradition meets innovation. This family-owned winery, led by the dedicated team of Franz, Maria Luise, and Florian Gojer, is a testament to the beauty of winemaking in the South Tyrol region, just south of the majestic Dolomites.
At the heart of their winemaking journey is the exquisite "Granat" wine. It's a testament to the harmonious marriage of two distinct vineyards. One, graced with stony alluvial soil from the Adige river and a high porphyry content, brings strength and structure to the wine. The other, with alluvial soil from the Eisack river, resting on a porphyry subsoil, offers delicacy and complexity. Hand-picked and meticulously processed, the grapes undergo controlled fermentation in lightly toasted oak barrels, followed by malolactic fermentation and further maturation in large wooden barrels.
When you pour a glass of "Granat," you'll encounter a wine that embraces your senses with its dark crimson hue. It reveals captivating flavors of blackcurrant and chocolate, accompanied by enticing spicy notes. This wine is robust and meaty, with warm and distinct tannins that offer structure, all harmonized by a pleasant acidity. "Granat" from Franz Gojer Winery is a bold expression of terroir and craftsmanship.
