This estate-grown Pinot Noir, sourced from six distinct vineyard sites, showcases the unique terroir of the Willamette Valley. The 2022 vintage, marked by a challenging spring and a sun-kissed autumn, demanded adaptability. A late snowfall and a warm late-season necessitated careful vineyard management, including leaf pulling to prevent botrytis. Harvest, concentrated in mid-October, yielded complex, fruit-forward wines. Aromas of cherry cordial, dried strawberries, and dark chocolate lead to flavors of cherry, cranberry, and black currant. A supple finish of spiced tea, orange peel, and leather completes the experience. Fermented in small steel tanks and aged for 10 months in French oak, this Pinot Noir exemplifies Elk Cove's "spice rack" blending, achieving a balanced and approachable style.
