Moro della Genga Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Superiore DOC is a captivating white wine that showcases the unique terroir of the Marche region in Italy. This Verdicchio, crafted by Leo Felici and Andrea Cavallaro, is the product of vineyards nestled in Rosora, where some vines reach elevations of 400/500 meters above sea level. The vines, planted in the 1980s and early 2000s, thrive in a blend of clay and limestone soil. Fermented with native yeasts in concrete vats, the wine matures on its lees for six months, developing a depth and complexity that is truly compelling.
This wine showcases the freshness and sapidity imparted by the elevation and distance from the sea. The winery follows organic practices, fostering biodiversity with sheep grazing freely among the vines. Moro della Genga Verdicchio is a tribute to the nobleman who once ruled Rosora, and the 2022 vintage marks their inaugural release, with 20,000 bottles produced.
