Channing Daughters Description
Channing Daughters Pinot Grigio Ramato is a unique skin-fermented white wine that boasts a beautiful coppery color, reminiscent of the Italian word "Ramato". The Pinot Grigio fruit used in this wine is hand-picked from both the Bridgehampton home farm and the Mudd West Vineyard on the North Fork, and is fermented on its skins for sixteen days with wild/ambient yeast in small bins. The wine is then aged in older French and Slovenian oak puncheons for four months, resulting in a medium-plus-bodied wine with balanced acidity and only 12% alcohol.
This "orange" wine has a stunning star-bright color that falls somewhere between electric orange and burnished copper, with aromas and flavors of honey, brown spices, dried apricots, pear skin, tropical citrus, baked apples, caramel, and peaches. The wine is dry, exotic, textured, and aromatic, making it perfect to pair with hard cheeses, charcuterie, fish, chicken, and pork preparations that include spices, nuts, grains, or squash. Exotic, lightly spiced, and earthy foods will also complement this wine beautifully.
Enjoy Channing Daughters Pinot Grigio Ramato now at cellar temperature in large glasses, or over the next six-plus years to fully appreciate its complexity and persistence of flavor on the finish. This is an exceedingly delicious and exciting wine that yearns to be seen, smelled, and tasted, and will make a great addition to any table year-round.
