The Bucaco Tinto Reservado 2015 is a complex and exquisite wine, earning high scores from reputable sources such as Wine Spectator, James Suckling, and Vinous. With a deep ruby color, this wine boasts intense aromas of blackberries, blueberries, plums, cedar, and black pepper. Its full-bodied and structured palate is complemented by firm tannins, a touch of fruitiness, and a long, lingering finish. This wine is best paired with roasted meats, game, pasta dishes, and aged cheeses.
Bucaco Tinto Reservado 2015 is a well-made wine worth trying by wine enthusiasts.
The 2015 Tinto Reservado Buçaco (there was no 2014, the worst year in the last 20, said Wine Director Antonio Rocha) is a 60/40 blend of Touriga Nacional and Baga, aged in new French oak for approximately 12 months. It comes in at 13.5% alcohol. Fresh, structured and silky, this is a red with bold flavors, fine aromatics and a crisp edge. Showing gorgeous mid-palate finesse, it ends with ripe tannins supporting the fruit. Antonio said he likes this better than the 2011 and considers this (the red, not the white) one of the best (along with 2010 and 2011) for the last decade or so. I'm not convinced as yet—the 2011 was pretty stunning and the 2010 was no small achievement—but the finesse here is better. I questioned the concentration—it has a certain understated feel—but Antonio believes this has fine concentration too. It is on the subtle side, but as it sat in the glass, it began to flesh out and tighten a bit. As understated as it often seems, it has plenty of room for improvement in the cellar. Let's be a little conservative and let it show its stuff in time. This won't be released until next year. Typically, they age well, so buy a bottle to try young and put a few away for several years as well.
