Bedouet ‘Le Domaine’ Muscadet Sevre et Maine Sur Lie is a testament to family tradition and organic viticulture. Henri Bedouet, a cooper and winegrower, established the estate, which has been nurtured through four generations. Michel Bedouet, who took over in 1990, initiated the organic conversion, culminating in certified organic grapes by 2013. In 2020, Antonin Bedouet assumed control, bringing his expertise to the 19-hectare domain. Crafted from 100% Melon de Bourgogne, the vines, averaging 20-25 years old, thrive on gneiss and mica schist soils at 50 meters elevation.
This southeast-facing vineyard employs simple Guyot training, cover crops, and organic practices. Machine-harvested and fermented in stainless steel, the wine ages on its lees for 6-12 months, resulting in a crisp and vibrant character. Lightly perfumed with white fruit notes, the wine displays bright lemon zest textures and a fresh, fruity profile. Wine Enthusiast awarded the 2023 vintage 92 points, noting its fragrant nose of honey-drizzled baked apples and bread dough, followed by a rich palate of ripe fruit, white tea, and citrus.
