Established in 1670, Worthy Park Estate is a beacon of tradition and quality in the heart of Jamaica. For centuries, it has been the source of some of the island's finest sugarcane, with production dating back to 1720. Today, it stands as the last single-estate rum distillery on the island and one of the final two 100% Jamaican-owned rum producers in operation. The Clarke Family, with Gordon Clarke as the fourth-generation Director, has owned the Estate since 1918, maintaining a hands-on approach by living and working on the property.
Nestled in St Catherine Parish, near the island's geographical center and at an elevation of 1200ft, the Worthy Park Estate spans over 10,000 acres. Approximately 40% of this vast land is dedicated to sugarcane cultivation. The cane, primarily harvested by hand, is processed at the Estate's sugar factory. The resulting molasses is then transported a mere kilometer away to the distillery, never once leaving the property.
In 2005, the Clarke Family revived the Worthy Park distillery, making it one of the last three traditional, 100% pot-still, Pure Single rum productions in Jamaica. Despite its traditional methods, it is arguably the most modern. The unique and exceptional spirits produced by the Clarke Family have attracted a broad international audience, with their Worthy Park Rum-Bar standing as a testament to their commitment to producing 100% authentic Jamaican Rum.
The Worthy Park 109 Pot Still Jamaican Rum is a prime example of the Estate's dedication to quality. This overproof pure single Jamaican rum is produced exclusively at Worthy Park Estate. Distilled from 100% molasses on a Forsyths copper pot still, it is a blend of Worthy Park’s light-ester rum aged for three years in ex-bourbon casks and a small quantity of unaged, high-ester rum. The rum presents heady aromas of dried fruit, cocoa, and green plantain, leading to a distinct palate of crème brûlée, cacao, and coffee, all underscored by the unmistakable Jamaican funk of high-ester, pot-still rum. With an ABV of 54.5%, it's perfect for enhancing top-shelf tiki, tropical, or classic cocktails. This 100% pot-still, dark rum is a true testament to its historical Jamaican heritage.
