Samaroli SPQR IV Edition Blended Rum is an intriguing and limited-release spirit, bottled in Scotland in 2023. This fourth edition, with a name reminiscent of imperial Rome, embodies Samaroli's philosophy of crafting exceptional and unrepeatable expressions.
This blend showcases a unique combination of rums from different origins, selected to create a spirit of remarkable depth and evolution. It features one cask of Trinidad rum distilled in 2009 at the T.D.L distillery, produced in a column still from molasses and matured for five years in an ex-bourbon barrel under a tropical climate. Complementing this is the inclusion of two casks of Mauritius rum distilled in 2017 at a restricted distillery, also crafted in a column still but from fresh cane juice and aged in ex-bourbon barrels without tropical maturation.
With a total of only 990 bottles produced, this rum offers a sensory journey evocative of the Mediterranean. The nose and palate present a rich tapestry of dried figs, dates, linden honey, and alcohol-preserved fruits, followed by sun-kissed and caramelized notes, candied apricot, and a medley of sweet spices including saffron.
