This small-batch blend is a result of a special trip to Hampden Estate in July 2022 by representatives from PM Spirits, Prestige-Ledroit, and LM&V. They hand-selected and blended ten barrels of different marks and ages, including five casks of LFCH aged for two years, four casks of LROK aged for four years, and one cask of <>H aged for five years. Bottled at a robust 60% ABV and without any additives, this rum offers an authentic taste of Jamaica.
Founded in 1753, Hampden Estate is one of Jamaica's oldest distilleries, known for its intensely flavorful and complex rums. They remain committed to traditional methods, including long fermentations with wild yeasts and distillation in copper pot stills. This dedication to quality shines through in the tasting experience.
On the nose, expect a full and heady aroma with a burst of mint followed by notes of ripe mango. Deeper layers reveal rich quince, bramble jam, and orange marmalade. The palate is rich and dense, exploding with tropical fruit flavors like coconut and passion fruit. A surprising twist of chocolate, earthy undertones, and a hint of thyme add intriguing complexity. The finish is long and rich, intensifying with dark chocolate character, spicy ginger and cinnamon notes, and evolving into decadent stewed raisin, dates, and roasted walnut.
