It combines 60% high-proof aged Guyanese rum (154 proof) with 40% high-proof Jamaican pot still rum from the esteemed Worthy Park Estate (170 proof). This carefully chosen combination is bottled at a commanding 114 proof (57% ABV), making it an ideal base for classic rum cocktails that require robust flavor and structure.
The inspiration for this blend came from a favored mixture of equal parts Hamilton 151 and a fat half ounce of Hamilton Jamaican Pot Still rum, which bartenders found exceptional but desired in a consistent, ready-to-use format. To achieve this balance, the selected rums from Guyana and Jamaica are meticulously blended and slowly stirred for 48 hours at the Five & 20 Distillery in Westfield, NY. This extended blending period ensures optimal integration of the distinct characteristics of each rum before the proof is carefully brought down to 114 with filtered well water.
