A revered single malt whisky, Ardbeg Ten Years Old stands as a testament to the distillery's mastery of peat and smoke. This iconic expression is celebrated worldwide for its unparalleled complexity and depth of flavor.
A symphony of aromas greets the nose, with intense smoky fruit notes intertwined with zesty lemon and lime, all enveloped in a rich, waxy dark chocolate. Bold menthol and black pepper cut through the sweetness of smoke, followed by hints of tarry ropes and graphite. A second wave reveals the savory scent of smoked fish and crispy bacon, alongside the sweetness of baked pineapple and pear juice.
On the palate, an explosion of crackling peat ignites a multitude of flavors. Tangy lemon and lime mingle with black pepper and cinnamon-spiced toffee, followed by a wave of briny sea salt, smooth buttermilk, ripe bananas, and currants. The smoke gradually builds, enveloping the palate in a warm embrace of creamy cappuccino and toasted marshmallows. As the taste lingers, notes of dry espresso, licorice root, and tarry smoke coat the palate with chewy peat oils.
The finish is long and lingering, with a symphony of tarry espresso, aniseed, toasted almonds, and delicate hints of soft barley and fresh pear. This is a whisky that leaves a lasting impression, a true testament to Ardbeg's dedication to crafting bold, complex, and unforgettable single malts.
Ardbeg Ten Years Old is revered around the world as the peatiest, smokiest, most complex single malt of them all. Yet it does not flaunt the peat; rather it gives way to the natural sweetness of the malt to produce a whisky of perfect balance. Named World Whisky of the Year in 2008. Non chill-filtered with a strength of 46% ABV. (from the distillery)
