Alambique Serrano Vida Nativa Single Cask #2: Venado Temazate is a rare and exceptional rum, showcasing the unique terroir of Oaxaca's Canada region. Distilled from 100% Java varietal cane juice, harvested from the steep hillsides of Santa María Tlalixtac at elevations ranging from 2,500 to 3,800 feet, this single cask rum exemplifies the artistry of the Krassel family.
Fermented in pine tanks with ambient yeasts and distilled by Rommel Krassel in a copper alembic pot still, this rum is a testament to traditional methods. It spent 22 months aging in new French Oak, followed by a 2.5-month finish in a new Acacia cask.
Bottled at cask strength, 62.5% ABV, with no added water, sugar, or coloring, this limited release of 250 bottles represents the purest expression of the rum.
The Venado Temazate, a small deer species native to the Canada cloud forests, inspired this release. The rum itself offers aromas of port grape, plum, hoja santa, snickerdoodle, and eucalyptus, followed by a palate of savory apple pie and a white pepper finish.
