Alambique Serrano Vida Nativa Blend #1: Pico Canoa is an exceptional blended rum, showcasing the unique terroir of Oaxaca's Canada region and the Krassel family's blending expertise. Crafted from 100% Java varietal cane juice, harvested from the elevated hillsides of Santa María Tlalixtac, this blend offers a harmonious combination of two distinct rums.
Fermented in steel and pine tanks with ambient yeasts, the blend consists of rum distilled in both the Krassel Still and copper alembic pot stills. The Krassel Still rum matured for 25 months in new French oak, followed by a 4-month finish in a red wine cask. The copper alembic pot still rum aged for 28 months in new French oak, followed by a 3-month finish in a red wine cask. Bottled at cask strength, 57.7% ABV, with no added water, sugar, or coloring, this limited release of 574 bottles offers a unique tasting experience.
The Pico Canoa Toucan, a vibrant bird native to the region, inspired this blend. The rum itself presents aromas of lychee, white pear skin, and watermelon rind, followed by a palate of cinnamon butter, apricot, brown sugar, cinnamon toast cereal, and a pleasant oiliness.
