Alambique Serrano Vida Nativa Single Cask #1: Canamazo is a distinctive rum, showcasing the unique terroir of Oaxaca's Cañada region. Crafted from 100% Java varietal cane juice, harvested from the elevated hillsides of Santa María Tlalixtac, this single cask release represents the craftsmanship of the Krassel family.
Fermented in pine tanks with ambient yeasts and distilled by Rommel Krassel in a copper alembic pot still, this rum embodies traditional methods. It matured for two years in new French oak, followed by three months in new Hungarian oak. Bottled at cask strength, 58.7% ABV, with no added water, sugar, or coloring, this limited release of 266 bottles offers an unadulterated glimpse into the rum's character.
The Canamazo, a large, nitrogen-fixing tree native to the region, inspired this release. The rum itself presents intriguing aromas of tootsie roll, watermelon rock candy, and wet carpet, followed by a palate of cherry limeade and Manhattan cocktail notes.
